This position exists in the WSWHE BOCES and involves responsibilities centered around the installation and operational support of technology related infrastructure. The work involves tasks related to installing and maintaining structured cabling, audio/video equipment, video and physical security systems, and a wide variety of technologies that integrate into the computer network and telecommunications systems of the BOCES and its component districts. The incumbent will perform work in accordance with industry standards where applicable.Typical Work Activities:Designs, installs, and maintains structured cabling components and systems;Designs, installs, and maintains security surveillance and access control systems, and systems that provide for their integration;Designs, installs, and maintains analog and digital Audio Video components and systems; Analyzes installation requirements for various technologies and determines the deployment methods used for best performance and functionality;Installation and maintenance of various legacy technological devices;Participates in record keeping protocols and procedures for all tasks performed, such as maintaining engineering documents, inventory records and ticketing system data;Provides communications to WSWHE BOCES and component school district personnel regrading services performed;Initiates orders for new supplies and equipment as needed.Skills and Abilities:Comprehensive knowledge of the latest techniques utilized in the installation, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of technologies;Ability to read and follow schematic diagrams and architectural diagrams;Ability to understand complex audio and visual equipment integrations, and convey instructions to users on use;Skillful in the use of tools and test equipment utilized in the field of network and A/V cabling installations;Must have initiative, resourcefulness, and excellent customer relations skills;Ability to prepare project proposals and cost estimates;Ability to train others in the installation and maintenance of the technological solutions supported;Skillful in prioritizing workflows, scheduling of tasks, and completion of assignments;Proficient in the use of various test equipment, including but not limited to: Multi-Meter, Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, Cable (Fiber, Copper, COAX) testers; Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.Minimum Qualifications:Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's Degree in Information Technology and/or Electronics and/or Audio-Visual Technology related field, and three (3) years of applicable experience in a related field of work; ORCompletion of an Industry Certification in the Information Technology and/or Electronics and/or Audio-Visual Technology field, and three (3) years of applicable experience in a related field of work; ORGraduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, and five (5) years of experience in the Information Technology and/or Electronics and/or Audio Visual Technology field.Work Hours:Monday - Friday 7:30am-3:30pmLocation:Southern Adirondack Education Center, Hudson Falls
