Donald Myers Education Center, Saratoga SpringsWork Hours: Monday - Friday 7:30am-3:30pmThis position involves responsibility at the divisional or central office level of the organization to process or observe the processing of information using a computer and related programs to record, retrieve and revise correspondence, statistics, reports, accounting and various other forms of data. This position differs from that of Information Processing Specialist in that the activities performed are moderately difficult, more diverse and involve accessing information at a generally higher level. The Senior Informational Processing Specialist independently performs complex information processing activities often involving the utilization and manipulation of the information from multifunction relational databases, managing sensitive, business related, school and student related data, as well as consistent proficient use of spreadsheet, word processing, and related application software. Responsibilities of the position include substantial function in the areas of database management, including definition and modification of tables and fields, permissions and security. The Senior Information Processing Specialist is responsible for designing, formatting, typing, revising and printing text, reports, budgets, etc. Additionally, when not engaged in information processing the incumbent performs a variety of clerical duties. General supervision may be exercised over Information Processing Specialists and other clerical positions. The work is performed under general supervision of the department head, with leeway for independent decision making. The incumbent does related work as required.Utilizes specialized application software to develop and manipulate reports for one or more data-based systems for single and interrelated purposes;Prepares training materials and provides training to users related to database software program use;Corresponds directly with software company for programming changes, suggestions and enhancements to improve efficiency;Compiles, verifies accuracy of, and analyzes information including the preparation of complex charts and statistical reports from multiple divisions of the organization, and prepares this information as reports for administration, local, regional and state regulatory agencies, and the Board of Education;Assigns and reviews work and instructs employees in specialized clerical and/or information processing activities specific to the division;May supervise subordinates;Confers with administration on projects as to procedures, timeline, rate of output, and difficulties encountered;Communicates regularly with other BOCES departments, outside agencies, and school districts; Performs a variety of clerical functions related to the position;Performs a variety of related duties as required.Minimum Qualifications:Graduation from a regionally accredited or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with an Associate’s Degree or higher and two (2) years of full-time or its part-time equivalent clerical work experience; ORGraduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and four (4) years of full-time or its part-time equivalent clerical work experience.Note: Vacancies are filled by a certified list provided by Washington County Civil Service. Should no certified list be available, candidates appointed to this position will be serving in a provisional appointment in accordance with New York State Civil Service Law. The candidate must successfully complete a competitive examination and be eligible for appointment in accordance with Civil Service Law and the Civil Service Rules for Washington County to obtain a permanent appointment.
