Location: Component School Districts within Washington County, NYFunction: This position combines the data security and privacy needs of component school districtswith the role of overseeing local area network systems, equipment and in-district BOCESstaff. The successful candidate will serve as a liaison between the various BOCESInstructional and Network Services provided to the school districts. In addition, thisposition will be involved in top-level technology planning activities in several componentschool districts, including planning for Education Law 2D compliance. A key componentto this role will be working with district technology leadership on aligning district computernetworks and operations with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. The work isperformed under the general supervision of school district administrative personnel andin collaboration with the Assistant Director for Data Privacy and Professional Learning.Responsibilities:The following are illustrative only and not limiting or all inclusive) Ensures a high quality implementation of a wide range of instructional andtechnical initiatives guided by the NYSED approved long range technology planfor subscribing school districts. Monitors and oversees local area network performance, resources, security anddata integrity to include the upgrade and installation of software as required; Facilitates NIST Action Planning meetings and assists districts with developinggoals and timelines for implementation. Develops systems for managing the work of various BOCES technology staffmembers, including the development of network documentation, monitoring licensinginformation, and inventory of district hardware and software. Plans, implements and supports network solutions between multiple platforms; Provides district leadership and technology decision makers with summarizedinformation and recommendations to enhance district cybersecurity posture. Tests LAN software, hardware and connectivity options, researches LAN industrytrends, and recommends appropriate changes in hardware and softwarestandards; Diagnoses and resolves Local Area Network and Wide Area Network, operatingsystem and hardware and software problems; Implements a high quality help desk experience for all district end-users Attends and participates in professional conferences and meetings and serves as atechnology liaison with the parents, teachers, school districts officials, BOCES andother program-related personnel; Serves on school district wide technology committee providing both instructional andtechnical advice and facilitating long range technology planning. Provides direct supervision, including assigning work activities and conductingperformance evaluations, of BOCES staff in component districts. Prepares an annual budget for the requisition of technology supplies, material andequipment for districts subscribing to Chief Technology Officer-level Service. Educate district and employees on compliance requirements. Collaborate with district IT staff to raise employee awareness of data privacy andsecurity issues, and provide training and support as needed. Attends DPO training and other applicable trainings. Review technology projects, contracts and procurements for compliance.Qualifications: Master’s Degree, Valid NYS teaching and administrative certification (SBL, SDA orSAS). Five years of successful teaching experience and significant experience inlong range technology planning; designing, installing, updating and maintaining alocal Area Network and/or a Wide Area Network.
