Donald Myers Education Center, Saratoga SpringsWork Hours: M- F; 8 - 2:45To coordinate with BOCES and home school personnel on matters relating to the placement and performance of students involved with Exceptional Learners programs which includes meeting requirements for graduation, career planning opportunities, and collaboration with instructors to support student success. To support and promote the success of all students enrolled in Exceptional Learners programs.Coordinate, counsel and communicate with students' parents, home school and center personnel as indicated regarding any problems students may have related to participating in center programs; Coordinate the enrollment of students referred to programs which the staff member was assigned.Work with home school counselors to secure student transcripts and exam historyDevelop projected course enrollment prior to scheduling. Work with the program supervisor to develop master schedules for each program. Produce and distribute individual student schedules. Coordinate student dual enrollment in CTE, including program visits and selectionOversee the quarterly production of report cards and the updating of student transcripts after each semester. Oversee the scheduling, distribution, scoring, and reporting of grades for state exams in accordance with SED requirements. Provide and maintain accurate, up-to-date cumulative records that include anecdotal remarks, grades, progress reports, attendance data and other pertinent information helpful in assisting and supporting a student's progress in their Exceptional Learners' program by collaborating with the Data CoordinatorConsult with the GED instructor(s) regarding the referral of students to sit for the GED exam and record keeping requirements for the GED program. Work with students to develop individual guidance plans including projected coursework, flexible career pathways, and projected graduation date. Respond in a timely manner to faculty requests for guidance related information and/or reports that are required for meetings with home schools and/or parents. Provide on-going communication with student, parent, and home school regarding academic and attendance issues. Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of all reports generated from the guidance office. Support and assist in coordinating transition planning activities for special education students beginning at age 12. This shall include, but not be limited to: insuring that Level 1 vocational assessments have been completed; overseeing the maintenance of individual transition planning folders; coordinating transition planning meetings; assisting students and parents with post high school educational planning and paperwork such as college applications and financial aide forms; and other tasks as deemed necessary by individual student transition planning areasConduct exit interviews with students prior to graduation or leaving the program.Any other such duties may be delegated by the program administrators and may be necessary to perform the functions of the position.
