Western Suffolk BOCES anticipates an opening for a Guidance & Student Support Services Specialist in our Division of Instructional Support Services.This is a 10 month position plus 20 additional days during the summer for summer school support.Salary – $70-85K *salary determined by experienceQUALIFICATIONS:Master's degree in School Counseling, Social WorkNew York State Education Department Professional Teaching Certification – School Counselor or Social WorkA minimum of three years' experience in K-12 pupil personnel service or post-secondary advisory or guidance positions JOB RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:Lead and coordinate regional or site based professional development related to guidance technology applications, i.e. Naviance, Frontline, PowerschoolServe as a liaison between vendors and school district to coordinate training for use of guidance technology applicationsCoordinate monthly guidance and pupil personnel service meetings with relevant topics for school-based counselors and mental health providersSupport BOCES staff, students, and school district personnel with locating and understanding SED resources, diploma requirements, and educational programs for careers and collegeLead coordination of partnership with BOCES and College Board with component school districtsWork in collaboration with BOCES administration and staff development teams to coordinate professional development to promote best practices regarding mental and emotional wellness for studentsSupport the Regional Summer School program administration with scheduling of programsOrganize the BOCES Testing Center to ensure efficient receipt and distribution of NYSED test protocolsAttend local meetings representing Western Suffolk BOCESOther responsibilities as assigned by the Divisional AdministratorTo apply, upload a job specific cover letter and resume.
