The Weedsport Central School District is seeking a highly qualified and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our dedicated team. As a Special Education Teacher for grades 6-12, you will play a crucial role in empowering our students to reach their full potential.Responsibilities:Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with diverse learning needs.Provide differentiated instruction and support to meet individual students' academic, social, and emotional requirements.Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure inclusive practices in the classroom and promote a positive learning experience for all students.Utilize various teaching strategies, resources, and assistive technologies to enhance the learning experience for students with disabilities.Monitor and assess student progress regularly, and make data-driven decisions to adjust instructional approaches accordingly.Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, IEP progress, and related documentation.Foster a safe and nurturing classroom environment that encourages student engagement, active participation, and respect for diversity.Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, IEP goals, and strategies for support at home.Participate in professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in special education and instructional methodologies.Collaborate with the school's support team, including therapists, counselors, and administrators, to develop a cohesive and comprehensive support plan for students.Qualifications:New York State certification in Special Education for grades 6-12.Proven experience working with students with diverse learning needs in an educational setting.Strong knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in special education.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.Ability to adapt and differentiate instruction to accommodate various learning styles and abilities.Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for empowering students with disabilities to succeed academically and socially.
