The White Plains Public School District is seeking a Director of Mathematics, Science, Engineering and CTE 7-12. For this 12-month administrative position, NYS certification in SDA (School District Administration) or SDL (School District Leader) and certification in Mathematics 7-12 and/or Science 7-12 is required. It is preferred that the selected candidate also has the following qualifications: At least three years of successful experience as an administrator Building leadership experience at the high school level preferred At least five years of classroom teaching experience at the secondary level Strong vision of exemplary secondary education A rich, substantive, research-based knowledge both of academic subject matter, standards, and of pedagogy Under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, the Director of Mathematics, Science, Engineering and CTE 7-12 will coordinate the operation and implementation of the Mathematics, Science, Engineering, and CTE programs and material adoptions; perform administrative and supervisory duties with staff related to curricular program; assist in the implementation of instruction programs of the District; guide pedagogical support to teachers; and, perform other related work, as required. Such as: Collaborate with Central Office Staff, Directors, Coordinators, Principals, Assistant Principals, Teachers, Teaching Assistants, and all staff to provide oversight, operation, and implementation of Science, Mathematics, Engineering and CTE curriculum areas and departments. Identify and maximize opportunities for the integration of subject areas, as appropriate Work in collaboration with the Director of Elementary Teaching, Learning, and Assessment PreK-6 and the Coordinator of STEM and Enrichment PreK-6 to ensure cohesive instruction for grades PreK-12 Support the District’s initiatives to improve student graduation rates and integrate science, technology, engineering, and math in grades 7-12 Salary placement as per the White Plains Administrative and Supervisors Association agreement.
