Preferred experience with nVision, Timepiece, Frontline (AESOP), My Learning Plan, Infinite Campus, BOCES and Microsoft Excel software systems.Minimum Acceptable Training and Experience: Possession of a high school or equivalency diploma and either:(A) Four (4) years of computer experience, two (2) of which involved or were supplemented by user support and/or training in recent software for business or educational applications, which must have included current MS Office/MS Access; or(B) Satisfactory completion of 30 credits at a recognized college or university* with major course work in a computer science or related computer field may be substituted for each year of the computer experience but must possess at least two (2) years’ experience in providing user support and/or training in recent software for business or educational applications which must have included current MS Office/MS Access.General Statement of Duties:Assists in coordinating all aspects of the operations of the School District’s Management and Information Systems and Technology department; performs related duties as assigned. . Responsibility includes leading and directing a team in system development and improvement, and in providing computer systems support to all District departments and personnel. This involves being subject to call back on 24 hour, seven day per week basis; to be available to respond to emergencies or as needed; and to travel throughout district locations. The incumbent functions as lead worker over a small number of lower level technical and seasonal employees. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes:Thorough knowledge of modern technology and of the techniques and methods of configuring, implementing and supporting local area networks including Group Policy, network switching and Wireless Networking as used in information systems in an educational setting; skill in the installation, operation and troubleshooting of data communications and peripheral equipment; ability to communicate effective both orally and in writing; ability to provide expertise and lead the work of a technical staff in providing the technical and functional support as required in an educational setting; responsiveness and courtesy to a wide variety of users; initiative; resourcefulness; reliability; good judgment; ability to perform in a reasonable manner the essential functions of the position.Examples of work: (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)Leads and coordinates the daily operations of the MIS Department as performed by the School Technology Specialists, Personal Computer Network Specialist, and summer workers;Coordinates and participates in the oversight of the BOCES technical support staff;Provides project management and logistical oversight as projects arise;Receives and prioritizes requests and provides assistance to users of personal computer software, systems, applications and iPad apps, cloud bases applications (ex. Office 365, iTunesU), telephones, voice mail, email and web sites;Leads staff and participates in supporting daily network and computer operations throughout the district;Leads staff and participates in acquiring and installing technology hardware and software at various locations throughout the district;Participates in the various technology committees and other district committees providing expertise and guidance;Monitors the district technology helpdesk to insure timely responsiveness and follow-up;Interacts with various district departments and offices on project resources and needs;Oversees the district’s eRate process;Coordinates the hiring of the part time summer staff; Coordinates the summer technology related projects in the schools;Analyzes current procedures and recommends new or modified system requirements;Participates in the various technology committees and other district committees;Interacts with various district departments and offices on project resources and needs;
