The WPCSD Coordinator of STEM PreK-6 is a probationary tenure track 11 month administrative position requiring NYS certification in SDA or SDL AND Childhood Education 1-6 and/or Common Branches K-6.. The goal for the Coordinator of STEM PreK- 6 is to provide leadership in curriculum and professional development, instruction, and evaluation in all areas of Mathematics, Science and STEM programming. To name a few, the selected candidate should have the following qualifications:Sound knowledge of current research in pedagogy and substantive knowledge in content and standards in mathematics, science and technologyStrong vision of exemplary mathematics and science programming as well as the integration of subject areasThree (3) years of successful teaching at the elementary levelProficiency with technologyPrior administrative or supervisory experience desirableUnder the direct supervision of the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction and in collaboration with the Director of Elementary Teaching, Learning & Assessment, the Coordinator of STEM PreK-6 will:Lead curriculum development efforts in all areas of Mathematics, Science and STEM aligned with the respective learning standardsRecruit highly qualified, diverse instructional personnel to fill open positions and recommend candidates as per district guidelinesRotate time between buildings and plan walkthroughs of Mathematics, Science, and STEM classes on a regularly scheduled basisCollaborate closely with the Coordinator of Science and Engineering 6-12 to ensure vertical instructional cohesionProvide professional development support to staff in best practicesOversee the development, assessment, and purchase of new instructional programs, and the evaluation of existing programsPerform other duties as assignedSalary placement as per the Administrators & Supervisors Agreement with full benefits.
