MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Possession of a high school or equivalency diploma and either:(A) One (1) year of experience in security, law enforcement or a closely related field, or(B) Completion of an approved post-high school course in security, law enforcement or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience in security, law enforcement or a closely related field.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Compliance with the NYS (New York State) Security Guard registration and training requirements as defined in the Security Act of 1993REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND ATTRIBUTES: Skill in the ability to utilize word processing software applications to produce correspondence; skill in observing and detecting unusual occurrences or behavior; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students and school personnel; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; sound judgment; tact; courtesy; physical condition commensurate with the duties of the position.GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Assists in monitoring security posts of after-hours/special events Security Assistants, liaise with the district Maintenance Foreperson & Supervising Custodian (Night Shift) and third party contracted security companies, manages break schedules, and takes direction from the Director of Facilities and the Athletic Director. This position reports directly to the Facilities Director. This position assists the facilities department with general Security Assistant supervision to support a safe and secure learning environment for all students, staff, guests, and visitors.EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Illustrative Only)Ensures the safety and security of District buildings, sites, and their occupants by enforcing District procedures, rules and regulations;Assists in supervision of District Security Assistants as needed and participates in the patrol of district buildings and school parking lots to prevent illegal trespass by unauthorized individuals;Enforces the visitor management system and prevents unauthorized visitors from entering District schools and/or loitering on district school grounds;Informs the Director of Facilities of emergencies, safety hazards, security issues;Assist in all actual emergency events (i.e., Fire/Evacuation, Lockdown, Lockout, Shelter-in-Place, Hold-in-Place, etc.)Assist Athletic Director/liaise with contracted security for Athletic Events;Conducts security inspections of all District school facilities and sites;Maintain organizational contact with Supervising Custodian (Night Shift);May under specifically defined and limited circumstances, use force;
