MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:Possession of a high school or high school equivalency diploma.GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Participates in facilitating and overseeing children’s student safety, behavior, play, and recycling in indoor and outdoor settings throughout the school year and support functions to students at an assigned school; does related work as required.DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: Under general supervision, an incumbent of this class performs a wide range of non-teaching duties and direct services and support functions to students in an assigned school on a Part-time (3 hours per day) basis. Work requires independent action and initiative in carrying out delegated responsibilities and in implementing school policies and procedures with students. Interacting with and helping children learn skills to constructively interact with one another, supervising Kindergarten through Fifth Grade students during lunch and recess, incumbents of this class must exercise good judgment, care in discipline, and be prepared to respond to emergencies as needed. Supervision is not a function of this class.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND ATTRIBUTES: Skill in implementing school lunch and recess routines, practices and procedures; skill in monitoring and facilitating students including Special Education Students and coordinating student activities; ability to work effectively with students, families, school administrators, teachers and staff; ability to understand and follow school policies, practices and procedures efficiently and effectively; ability to independently handle assigned tasks; ability to communicate effectively orally; resourcefulness; initiative, sound professional judgement; dependability; tact; ability to perform in a reasonable manner the essential function of the position.
