GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Oversees the housekeeping and custodial maintenance in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of White Plains school buildings and grounds; does related work as required.MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Possession of a high school or equivalency diploma and either:A. Seven (7) years of custodial or housekeeping experience of a large complex with multiple buildings or facilities, including four (4) years in a supervisory capacity of which two (2) must have been in a large facility; orB. Satisfactory completion of 30 credits towards an Associate or Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for two years of experience required in A) exclusive of the four years’ experience required at the supervisory level.EXAMPLES OF WORK: (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)Plans and organizes the work of a large staff of custodial workers and supervisors, oversees workassignments, implements new or revised procedures, ascertains operational problems, anddetermines appropriate resolution to insure a safe and clean environment in all school buildingsand grounds;Makes regular rounds of inspection throughout all buildings and grounds to insure conformancewith established standards and procedures for proper maintenance, upkeep, and cleanliness;Selects and requisitions equipment and supplies needed to carry out operational objectiveseffectively;Interviews, selects, and trains custodial staff in proper procedures, use of equipment, cleaning compounds and operating building systems;Reviews unsatisfactory performance by custodial workers and takes appropriate disciplinaryaction;Prepares monthly and annual reports of division activities for the Director, as well as otherreports as may be requested;Investigates and acts upon complaints by school staff, students, or community and prepares reports for administrative review;Participates in the preparation and setup for special functions and community use;Arranges rooms and auditoriums for special meetings and programs;
