Minimum Acceptable Training & Experience:One (1) year of labor or grounds maintenance experience required.Possession of a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of New York.EXAMPLES OF WORK: (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)Maintains athletic fields, including striping and marking, and the installation and removal ofbleachers;Plants and prunes trees, shrubs and flowers and seeds lawns;Mows lawns, clears brush and leaves, using power equipment;Fertilizes, waters and sprays trees, shrubs, flowers and lawns;Fells and removes trees;Installs and repairs fencing;Sweeps or shovels driveways and sidewalks;Removes snow using tractors, loaders, hand powered equipment and shovels;Drives truck to transport furniture, workers and material between work sites;Patches driveway using hot asphalt;Operates tractor with mowers, harrows or other attachments;Operates such equipment as tillers, aerifers, and jack hammers;Keeps tools and equipment clean and properly stored;Performs routine maintenance and repair of equipment and vehicles.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND ATTRIBUTES: Skill in the maintenance of grounds and athletic fields; ability to operate and maintain motor equipment, power mowers, and other power driven equipment; ability to understand and carry out verbal orders; willingness to work outdoors in all kinds of weather; ability to perform in a reasonable manner the essential functions of the position.
