The White Plains City School District has an opening for a Registered Professional Nurse to work throughout the school district for the 2023-24 school year. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs professional nursing services at one or more schools; does related work as required.DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: Under the general direction of the School Nurse Coordinator, an incumbent of this class provides professional nursing services to students, and related health services such as pupil health screening, emergency treatment, health records maintenance, and control of infectious disease in order to maintain acceptable health standards. This is a professional nursing position requiring assessment and treatment skills. Supervision may be exercised over the work of clerical assistants.MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Possession of a license issued by the State of New York to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse and current certification to administer CPR.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT FOR APPOINTMENT IN SCHOOL DISTRICTS: In accordance with the Safe Schools Against Violence in Education (SAVE) legislation, Chapter 180 of the Laws of 2000, and by the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, candidates for appointment in school districts must obtain clearance for employment from the State Education Department prior to employment based upon a fingerprint and criminal history background check.
