West Islip School District is seeking a highly skilled dual-role professional to serve as a School Psychologist and CPSE Chairperson. This position requires a unique blend of clinical expertise, special education law proficiency, and compassionate leadership. The successful candidate will oversee the transition of our youngest learners into the district while providing essential psychological services to support student well-being and academic success. Clinical Practice & Intervention - Diagnostic Assessment: Administer and interpret comprehensive standardized test batteries; produce high-quality psychological evaluations, classroom observations, and triennial re-evaluations. - Behavioral Support: Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and design data-driven Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). - Counseling: Manage a clinical caseload of mandated counseling services, utilizing evidence-based practices to support students' social-emotional growth. - Crisis Management: Serve as a key member of the school’s crisis response team, providing immediate intervention and long-term support planning. Administrative Leadership (CPSE Chairperson) - Chairperson Duties: Coordinate and lead Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) meetings, ensuring a collaborative and compliant transition for students and families. - Plan Development: Oversee the creation and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Section 504 Plans via Frontline/IEP Direct. - Compliance: Maintain rigorous adherence to NYS Part 200 and Part 201 regulations, ensuring all district procedures meet state and federal mandates for Students with Disabilities.
