The West Islip UFSD has an anticipated opening for a Special Education teacher. Minimum of three years’ experience in a school setting as a special education teacher Experience with: Working with special education students with varying disabilities Strong working knowledge of multisensory reading strategies/programs Students that have significant learning and behavioral challenges Strong classroom management skills and behavior management techniques Understanding of IEP development and implementation Differentiation of instruction to meet the diverse needs of students Evidenced based instructional strategies CSE Process IEP/504 Plans: Purpose, Accommodations, Data Collection, Goals, Etc. Behavior Intervention Plans Functional Behavioral Assessment Overall data collection Necessary Skills: Good interpersonal, written/oral communication and organizational skills Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff and parents Problem Solver/Growth Mindset Certification: NYS Special Education Certification Required TESOL Certification Preferred Effective September 2026
