The West Islip UFSD has an anticipated opening for an Elementary Teacher. Successful candidate will: have B-6 certification; multiple certifications preferred. have a minimum of 3 years’ experience. must possess knowledge of the science of reading along with the workshop model and its instructional components. have a deep comprehension of phonemic awareness, phonics, word study, reading fluency, vocabulary, child development of number sense, numeric fluency, and problem solving. preferably certified or trained in Wilson/Fundations Programs. modify and differentiate instruction based on student learning styles. be familiar with instructional technology software and applications and looks for new and innovative ways to incorporate instructional technology into the classroom. understanding of response to Intervention and MTSS framework. must be student centered-centered and possess the ability to motivate students to strive for academic excellence.
