Academic, social, employment, and functional skills are taught to each student as driven by their Individual Educational Plan (IEP), needs, and interests.Who We Are Looking For: A Special Education teacher, who embraces our mission of “strengthening the well-being of people with disabilities and their families through innovative supports.” RequirementsEducation/Experience:Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent from a regionally accredited college or university preferred;OR Bachelors degree and at least four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceCertificates and Licenses:NYS Special Education Teachers Certification Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Contributes to and plans lessons in conjunction with the designated curriculum frameworkWorks as a part of an inter-disciplinary team to meet each learner's individual needsCollaborates with parents, administrators, language therapists, social workers, behavior specialists and others to develop individual educational programs for students.Instructs students in all academic subjects.Trains, supports and supervises teaching assistants within the classroom and community settingAdditional RequirementsA valid New York State Driver’s License and ability to drive and driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage are required.
