Vocational Teacher/CounselorSalary range $56k-$81k for 10 month school year based on verified experience and educationOption to work during the 6 weeks Summer Program for additional payPlease include resume and cover letterRequirementsEducation/Experience:Master’s Degree in Special Education or Vocational Education or Counseling1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Who we are:Wildwood School, a part of Wildwood Programs, provides a comprehensive educational program for students with autism spectrum disorders, and developmental disabilities to prepare them to be as independent as possible; Academic, social, employment, and functional skills are taught to each student as driven by their Individual Educational Plan (IEP), needs, and interests.Who we are looking for:We are looking for caring, compassionate and engaging Social Worker to help promote independence, self-esteem and social integrationEssential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (Other duties may be assigned)Confers with students, parents, school personnel, employers, agencies, and other individuals to plan vocational training that meets needs, interests, and abilities of students.Instructs students in areas such as personal-social skills and work-related attitudes and behaviors.Develops work opportunities that allow students to experience success in performing tasks of increasing difficulty and that teach work values, such as self-improvement, independence, dependability, productivity, and pride of workmanship.Conducts field trips to enable students to learn about job activities and to explore work environments.Provide direct educational services to students in accordance with IEP requirements, including use of available tests, checklists, and observation to determine learning style, level of skills, and growth in cognitive areas.Develops, writes, reviews, and updates annual Educational IEP goals and objectives.Provides individual and/or group instruction within environments which develop skills and provide opportunities for the student to practice, generalize, and use those skills in meaningful situationsWorks as a member of a transdisciplinary team, which includes shared planning.Facilitate VESID eligibility, case, IPE, and supported work vendors; Create and maintain transition plan and calendar with team and family membersAdditional Requirements:A valid New York State Driver’s License and ability to drive and driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage are required to transport students to meet programmatic, community needs.Required to complete, pass, and use CALM training, provided by the school, which includes deescalation strategies and approved protective holds and movements for students.Apply on OLAS
