Salary range $56k-81k 10 month school year plus the option of working our 6 week summer program for additional payWho we are:Wildwood School provides a comprehensive educational program for students with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities to prepare them to be as independent as possible. Academic, social, employment, and functional skills are taught to each student as driven by their Individual Educational Plan (IEP), needs, and interests. Who We Are Looking For: A special education professional who embraces our mission of “strengthening the well-being of people with disabilities and their families through innovative supports.” The Successful candidate will enjoy leading the transition process for Wildwood School students 14-21 years old, while providing supervision to the Transition Readiness team as they work collaboratively with classroom teams ensuring that student adjustments are smooth and effective.Requirements Education/Experience: Master's degree in Special Education, Social Work (MSW) or Psychology from a regionally accredited college or university and experience working with students with disabilities and their families. Certificates and Licenses: NYS certification in Special Education, Psychology, or School Social Work.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. (Other duties may be assigned.)Supervises the Wildwood School Transition Department in providing transition services to students and their families. Coordinates and supervises the process of developing and implementing Measurable Post-Secondary Goals and the Coordinated Set of Transition Activities throughout the IEP. Actively creates and maintains cross-functional relationships within Wildwood Programs in order to facilitate an understanding of the transition goals/needs of students and the program’s abilities/needs. Participates in strategic planning at an agency level to collaborate and develop community integration teams and other services that meet the needs of the students as they are aging out of school. Works collaboratively and holistically with students, families, staff, service providers and employers in ensuring the provision of transition services to individuals. Works closely with the Transition team regarding assessments and development of employment and life skills. Assures that teams provide avenues for parents and guardians to participate in their child's transition plan. Develops partnerships with similar agencies with programs for people with disabilities. Provide ongoing contact and communication with other agency programs, and school districts. Meets with employers, community groups, BOCES staff and state and local government officials to determine transition program options.Additional Requirements: The position requires occasional late afternoon and evening work. A valid New York State Driver’s License and ability to drive and driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage are required. Must have daily access to their own vehicle and drive our students when the program requires it. Required to complete, pass, and use CALM training, provided by the school, which includes de-escalation strategies and approved protective holds and movements for students.
