Desire and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues Knowledge of implementation and evaluation strategies in accordance with the current NYS Standards for the Arts Knowledge and evidence of unit planning and lesson design using Understanding by Design, differentiated instruction, curriculum mapping and multiple assessment Evidence of strong classroom management with an emphasis on student engagement and student success in the classroom Commitment to curriculum development, professional development, flexible teamwork, and instructional technology Uses varied instructional methods and assessments to support: Engaged learning Higher - order thinking skills Meaningful, authentic use of knowledge Integration of 21st century skills Multiple Intelligences Ability to integrate technology into the classroom FUNCTIONS: To teach in accordance to the NYS Standards and Regulations Teach assigned band classes and band/string instrumental lessons Teach assigned general music classes in grades 7-8 Direct and prepare student instrumental ensembles for concerts, performances, and school events Provide small-group and individual instruction on band and possibly orchestra instruments to support student growth and performance Encourage and support student participation in music professional affiliate program To assist with directing after school clubs and activities To communicate regularly with the staff and parents regarding the students’ progress and program To provide extra help sessions for students as needed To perform assigned student supervision and record-keeping responsibilities To model for students an interest in life-long learning and support school-wide activities If i n t e re s t e d , p l e a se r e s po n d on l in e a t w w w . o la s jo b s. o r g /l on g is l an d n o l a t e r t h a n July 3, 2026.
