WEST BABYLON SCHOOLSANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY2023-2024 ENGLISH AS A NEW LANGUAGE (ENL)/ENGLISH TEACHERPER DIEM SUBSTITUTE/LEAVE REPLACEMENT$150./day (1-10 days)$175./day (11+ days)QUALIFICATIONS: NYS Certification (ENL/ESL/TESOL and 7-12 English) Dual certifications preferred Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply Successful experience as a teacher of ENL/ESL and/or English, knowledge of Part 154 Regulations, demonstrate understanding of ESL strategies and techniques, small group instruction, and the use of data to inform instruction and scaffolding instruction to support students Experience, knowledge and background related to N.Y.S. learning standards and multiple assessments including formative and benchmark assessments in unit designs Experience with administering NYS assessments (NYSESLAT, NYSITELL, and/or Regents assessments) Desire and knowledge to balance students’ social/emotional and academic/intellectual needs Uses varied instructional methods and assessments to support: Engaged learning Higher-order thinking skills Meaningful, authentic use of knowledge Integration of 21st century skills Multiple Intelligences Evidence of strong communication and interpersonal skills with parents, staff and students.
