WEST BABYLON SCHOOLSANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY2022-2023 GUIDANCE COUNSELORProbationary Appointment QUALIFICATIONS: NYS School Counselor Certification Master's Degree Successful guidance counselor or teaching experience at the secondary level preferred Knowledge of the college and career placement process Proven ability to work effectively with students, staff and parents; positive relationship skills Experience with student management systems, grade reporting and transcript process preferred Evidence of strong communication and interpersonal skills with parents, staff and students Commitment to curriculum development, professional development, and flexible teamwork FUNCTIONS: Knowledge of NYS counseling mandates Familiar with the West Babylon Senior High School Comprehensive guidance plan Create and implement elementary school counseling program Responsive services: Providing individual or group counseling sessions based on a referral process Communicate regularly with the student’s support staff and parents/guardians Collaboratively working with administration, psychologists, social workers and other staff Be an active member of child study teams, CSE meetings (if applicable), emergency crisis teams Utilize data to drive targeted interventions Individual Progress Review meetings for all students in grades 9-12 Guidance Instruction: Career development lessons and activities; provide family workshops/evening presentations To work as a member of the pupil personnel team and to improve services for all students Model for students an interest in life-long learning in subject area and general knowledge Support school-wide activities through chaperoning, involvement with student activities and/or coaching Additional responsibilities as directed by Superintendent and/or Director of Guidance, and/or building administration Qualified candidates should submit a letter of interest and an updated resume online at:www.olasjobs.org/longisland no later than September 26, 2022.
