Principal – High SchoolFull Time (12 Month)Application Deadline: February 21, 2025Start Date: July 1, 2025Description:Exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced secondary school administrator. The Washingtonville School District located in Orange County, NY is committed to the intellectual, cultural, physical and emotional growth of our students in a safe and supportive environment. Qualifications: Certified School Building Leader (SBL) or equivalent (SAS). A minimum of five (5) years of administrative experience preferably at the high school level. Must meet NYSED fingerprinting requirements. Position Responsibilities: The successful candidate for this High School Principal position is one who will promote the District’s three priority areas of Student Experience, Academic Excellence and Community Connections. They will promote the educational development of each student through the application of exemplary leadership, supervisory, and management skills. This individual is responsible for fostering a positive learning environment, implementing educational programs, managing school operations, and ensuring student success and staff development. The principal collaborates with teachers, parents, district administrators, and the community to achieve academic and organizational goals.WCSD BOE Policy #6618The successful candidate will be a talented, experienced, and innovative educator who should be able to demonstrate:Knowledge, experience and/or training in the daily management and operations of a school building including student management systems, master scheduling, state testing and safety protocols;Solid understanding of the needs of diverse learners and systems of prevention and intervention to support learner needs;Experience in promoting an environment supportive of students’ and staff social and emotional well-being as well as one which is equitable and culturally responsive;Knowledge of the NYS Learning Standards; research-based practice for instructional design & delivery; and assessment systems for student learning;Ability to comply with all State Mandates related to all school functions;Demonstrate fiscal responsibility and have knowledge of or experience in developing and upholding a school budget;Demonstrated skills in data collection, analysis, and interpretation to inform critical decisions at the building level;Knowledge, experience and/or prior training qualification with staff evaluation; Strong interpersonal skills and effective oral and written communication skills;A proven record of developing positive relationships among students, families, and school staff; Experience dealing with student discipline including conflict resolution with students, staff and their families;Ability to promote collaboration between school and community;Ability to develop and tap the instructional and leadership capacity of all stakeholders;Forward thinking leader who will appropriately prepare for and respond to changing student and District needs Salary Range: Commensurate with experience (WAA Contract)Reports to: Superintendent of Schools or DesigneeQualified candidates should apply on OLAS no later than February 21, 2025The Washingtonville Central School District is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment in its programs and activities on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, or age.
