The Wappingers Central School District is seeking candidates for an anticipated 11-month full-time elementary assistant principal vacancy with a start date on or about December 13, 2023. General responsibilities of this position include assisting the school principal in leadership, coordination, supervision and management of the school programs and operation. Candidates will be expected to provide four (4) letters of recommendation written within past 18 months bearing the writers' signatures. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (other duties may be assigned) 1. Serves as administrative head of the school in the absence of the principal.2. Administers a program of student discipline and interacts with students to encourage positive performance3. Assists in the guidance, counseling, observation and evaluation of staff.4. Manages building staff, including class schedules and building problems.5. Supervises staff attendance and assignment of substitute teachers.6. Supervises student attendance.7. Assists scheduling special events during the school day.8. Assists with coordinating the development of the master teaching schedule.9. Supervises daily transportation and cafeteria responsibilities of the building including late runs.10. Supervises and plans administrative, teacher and visitor parking.11. Supervises playground and athletic areas.12. Serves on district level committees.13. Provides general supervision to students. Supervises extracurricular and intramural activities.14. Maintains relationship with parents and community. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises staff in the Elementary School when the Principal is absent from the building.Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the District’s policies and applicable laws.Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.Apply on OLAS
