The Valley Stream CHSD, a beautifully diverse school community, is currently seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Leave Replacement Health/PE teacher. The successful candidate must possess valid NYS certification in both Health and Physical Education. Additional requirements/qualifications are outlined below. Design lessons and materials to instruct students on physical activities, sports skills, and health education (nutrition, hygiene, and wellness) while supporting and challenging students in a rigorous academic environment. Prepare assignments and implement innovative methods of teaching based on students' learning styles. Develop students' skills in alignment with district standards and goals in meeting NYS Health/Physical Education learning standards. Administer assessments throughout the year to evaluate student physical skills, knowledge, and growth, providing timely feedback to support progress. Demonstrate the ability to support a diverse community of learners, including English Language Learners and students with disabilities. Develop and research interactive, relevant, and meaningful learning materials for middle school and high school Health/Physical Education students. Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment that encourages active participation of all students. Work collaboratively with colleagues, school leadership, and families to develop strategies for addressing identified needs and improving student outcomes. Stay current with educational research, trends, and best practices in content area. Help maintain inventory of physical education equipment and facilities. Maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, faculty, and district administration. Cultivate strong student-teacher relationships. Maintain student confidentiality and manage student records/files.
