The Valley Stream CHSD, a beautifully diverse school community, is currently seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Mathematics Teacher - Leave Replacement. The successful candidate must possess valid NYS certification by the start date of the position which is scheduled for January 26, 2026. Additional qualifications and responsibilities are outlined below. Leave Replacement Teacher – MathematicsDesign lessons and materials that address the NYS CRSE Framework while supporting and challenging students in a rigorous academic environment.Prepare home assignments and assessment materials, evaluate exam results, and implement innovative methods of teaching based on students’ learning styles.Develop students’ skills in alignment with district standards and goals in meeting NYS 7-12 Mathematics Learning Standards.Administer required Math assessments throughout the year.Demonstrate the ability to support a diverse community of learners, including English Language Learners and students with disabilities.Develop and research interactive, relevant, and meaningful learning material for Math students.Maintain a positive learning environment that encourages active participation of students.Work collaboratively with colleagues, school leadership, and families to develop strategies for addressing identified needs and improving student outcomes.Stay current with educational research, trends, and best practices in content area.Utilize various instructional strategies that actively involve students in the learning process.Maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, faculty, and administration.Develop high quality relationships with students.Maintain student confidentiality and monitor student records/files.aCompensa Compensation is at the discretion of the Superintendent of Schools, and in accordance with the negotiated contracts between the Valley Stream CHSD and the Valley Stream Teachers’ Association (VSTA).
