The Valley Stream CHSD, a beautifully diverse school community, is currently seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Probationary Math Teacher. The successful candidate must possess valid NYS certification. The position is for a 7-12 school building. Additional responsibilities/qualifications include:Develop and implement lesson plans and material for math students that are aligned with the goals of the district’s curriculum standards and the instructional needs of all students.Assess students’ understanding of mathematical concepts through tests, quizzes, and assignments.Manage classroom behavior while providing an orderly, and interactive classroom during instructional periods.Participate in and design student-centered assessments that address students’ needs and provide feedback related to students’ academic performance.Collaborate with colleagues to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.Utilize various instructional teaching methods including small group activities, one-to-one support, and technology-based instruction.Evaluate and monitor students’ strengths and challenges to determine educational needs and address diverse learning styles; provide tutoring, as needed.Incorporate real-world applications of mathematics to enhance student learning.Maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, faculty, and administration.Possess strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple students’ needs at one time.Maintain student confidentiality and effectively monitor student records/files.
