The Valley Stream CHSD, a beautifully diverse school community, is currently seeking qualified candidates who are interested in officiating baseball, girls' lacrosse, boys' lacrosse and/or softball. The Junior High School Sports Official will be responsible for officiating games, ensuring fair play, and fostering a positive and safe environment for student-athletes.$115 per gameKey Responsibilities:1. Officiate junior high school baseball, boys’ lacrosse, girls’ lacrosse, and/or softball games according to established rules and regulations.2. Ensure the safety of student-athletes by enforcing safety protocols and regulations during games.3. Maintain impartiality and integrity while making on-field decisions and resolving conflicts between players, coaches, and spectators.4. Communicate effectively with coaches, players, and other officials to ensure smooth game operations.5. Provide guidance and mentorship to student-athletes on sportsmanship and fair play. Qualifications:1. CPR, First Aid, and AED certification are required.2. Previous experience officiating junior high school or youth sports games is preferred.3. Excellent knowledge of the rules and regulations of baseball, boys’ lacrosse, girls’ lacrosse, and/or softball.4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.5. Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.6. Flexible schedule to accommodate evening games.7. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team of officials.8. Commitment to upholding the values of sportsmanship, fairness, and respect.
