The Valley Stream CHSD, a beautifully diverse school community, is currently seeking highly qualified candidates for a Department Chairperson for Mathematics position. This leadership position is for a 7-9 school building and includes .4 teaching and .6 leadership responsibilities including but not limited to supervision of staff, classroom observations, implementation of instructional goals, data analysis and planning and leading professional development sessions. Additional qualifications include a strong background in classroom teaching and best practices for culturally responsive instruction, effective communication skills, experience in the area of curriculum development and data analysis and the ability to multi-task throughout the day. Department Chairs are members of the Principal's Cabinet and have a dual report to the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. The successful candidate must possess valid NYS School Building Leader certification.
