Along with other building administrator, this position is responsible for the day-to-day safety of both students and staff, ensuring an effective educational environment. The position provides leadership in all areas of instruction. The position is responsible for the administration and implementation of the school's special education program, promotes the overall efficiency of the school, and maximizes the educational opportunities to the students. • Provides leadership in the development of the school's special education program based on effective student learning practices in compliance with SED and Federal compliance status.• Responsible for NYSSA - alternate assessments.• Collaborates with and advises the Director of Education to address Special Education programs and services.• Assists in writing and updating the agency's Special Education Plan.• Supervises the Student Support Center Staff.• Provides information related to NYS and Federal Special Education Regulations.• Along with other administrators conducts formal and informal observations and evaluations.• When required, participates in CSE meetings, at times as CSE chairperson• Participates in grant writing.• Participates in developing IDEA Grant 611/Title One.• Assists in the development of the Career Center• Assists in developing professional development training• Assists in developing the school budget• Establishes effective relationships, serving as liaison between agency offices, community services, schools, DSS, and parents/guardians.• Monitors achievement of students.• Performs other duties as requested by the Director of Education.
