INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP:Studies the educational needs of students with disabilities requiring special education services and develops plans for meeting their needs.Assists with the development of curriculum and services to align with federal and state requirements and IEP requirements based on needs identified in IEP's.Assists in the establishment and evaluation of school district goals and objectives as requested.MANAGEMENT OF PROGRAMS AND SERVICES:• Chairs the Committee on Special Education and the Committee on Preschool Special Education.• Carries out or supervises all required functions, practices, and procedures of the CSE and CPSE including referrals, recommendations to the Board of Education, placements, programming, funding, etc.• Keeps the Director and Superintendent of Schools informed regarding needs, problems, successes and other information as appropriate.• Implements Board of Education policies and administers rules and regulations relating to special education.• Keeps abreast of rules and regulations regarding Special Education and assures district compliance.OTHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• Participates in the development and implementation of the District Special Education Plan.• Prepares and supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists and all other required paperwork.• Demonstrates effective time management practices.• Exhibits dependability in carrying out assigned responsibilities.• Reviews all IEP's and pertinent documents prior to CPSE/CSE meeting.• Facilitates information flow amongst special education department personnel.• Reviews and monitors IEP development, processes and compliance.• Attends training and meetings as required for the position.• Assists the special education teachers in the monitoring of student behavior, the development of Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans and making required adjustments to IEP's and instructional plans.• Completes other tasks as assigned by the Director of Special Education.SALARY: BA Step 1 $60,488 – Doct. Step 20 $153,695
