Job Description: Valhalla UFSD is looking for a thoughtful and knowledgeable educator to serve in the probationary position of High School Assistant Principal .Position: High School Assistant Principal for Grades 9-12School: Valhalla High SchoolEffective: July 12, 2023Certifications/Experience:NYS SBL or SAS or SDL or SDA Certification as required for position.Extensive successful teaching experience, preferably at the secondary level.Knowledge and SkillsAssists in the development and administration of teaching and learning opportunities consistent with district goals and vision.Provides leadership and direction to staff with regard to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of educational programs, including curricular and extracurricular activities.Promotes a school environment that is safe and conducive to individualized instruction, cooperative curriculum development, and student learning.Ensures that Board policies and procedures are implemented and followed Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting researchEncourages staff to continue to grow professionally and to experiment with new approaches or strategies to teaching.Strong interpersonal skills with all key stakeholders to help build and nurture a positive school climate and culture.Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles and behavioral management methods.Knowledge of inquiry and project based learning through effective technology integration. Actively engages in personal and professional growth through various learning opportunities & encourages staff to continue to grow professionally and to experiment with new approaches or strategies to teaching.Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping and reporting for all student activities, attendance and records as required by law.Knowledge of special education, CSE process and Section 504.Strong interpersonal skills with all key stakeholders to help build and nurture a positive school climate and culture..Committed to creating equitable and inclusive learning spaces with a focus on promoting social justice. Able to address student disciplinary issues in a timely and just fashion, with all appropriate outcomes and communications completed. Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.Supervises and evaluates teaching staff and other building employees in accordance with the school district's evaluation plan, and makes recommendations regarding goals, areas needing improvement and continued employment.Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Superintendent and other central office administrators Knowledge of High School curriculum and concepts.Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education.
