SANY’s Utica Academy of Science Charter School campus has a great opportunity for a dynamic and caring Full Time School Nurse - RN. You will provide students with health services. Incorporate students into health education programs and teach preventive health practices. This position may also provide nurse coverage for field trips as requested.You will:Provide medical care, minor or emergency, to students and staff according to charter policyAct as health mentor for studentsContact parents or guardians in cases of accident or illness. Obtain outside medical care in emergency cases when parents or guardians cannot be reachedImplement a plan to ensure student medications are administered properly. Ensure the plan is in compliance with charter policy and proceduresIssue health screening for staff and students as required by the New York Department of Health, New York Education Agency, and charter policy. Make referrals as necessaryManage and assess immunization recordsEnsure correct program administration by following program charter proceduresGather, manage, and file all reports and other documents required, including clinic records and accurate, updated health records on all studentsAbide by policies established by federal and state laws that apply to charter schools, New York Department of Health rules that apply to charter schools, Commission’s Rules that apply to charter schools, and local charter policy in the health services areaInform principal of potential health and safety hazardsAbide by all charter routines and regulationsWhat you needQualifications:RN certification required. Current CPR certificationFingerprint clearance through NYSEDAbility to evaluate students to identify health defectsExceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsCapable of implementing policies and proceduresCompetencies:Strong organizational skills; extremely careful attention to detail and follow-throughGood judgment; approachable and professional; solid problem-solving skills; ability to handle multiple tasks; self-motivated; well organizedExceptional communication and interpersonal skillsWant to learn more about our district?
