This is why our motto is “a private school atmosphere in a public school setting.” Students at our district are more than a number; each child receives personalized attention and care from the faculty and staff at our schools.The Tuxedo Union Free School District is seeking a collaborative administrator to serve in a probationary position as Principal of the George F. Baker High School/Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. This educational leadership position oversees the District’s academic program leading a team of dedicated faculty and staff. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: NYS Administrative (SAS, SBL or SDA) certification. 3+ years of successful administrative experience. Knowledge of current trends and impact of those trends on student population and growth. Prior experience and success with implementing best practices in secondary education. Experience with state evaluations, teacher APPR and student supervision. A child-centered philosophy, with proven ability as a rigorous academic leader, innovative planner and effective communicator with excellent time management skills. Successful teaching experience. Collaborative approach to leadership. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Comprehensive knowledge of NYS learning standards and assessments with ability to use data to inform decision making and target instruction in order to strengthen student achievement. Understanding of English Language Learners and ENL instruction. Work with other administrative personnel where appropriate in the selection, evaluation, supervision, and retention of professional personnel for the building. He or she is responsible for obtaining written evaluations on subject area competence from appropriate coordinators for teachers in their respective fields and weighing those evaluations carefully when recommending selection or tenure. Promote and utilize appropriate recruiting, interviewing, supervising, and evaluating techniques. Work with the Superintendent in the selection and evaluation of all instructional and non-instructional personnel. Be responsible for the orientation and adjustments of new teachers, including acquainting them with their duties and responsibilities in executing a continued and coordinated program of professional growth. Be responsible for the total testing program in the building including being aware of the results of state and local standardized tests and the implication of these results for instruction in the building. Proven ability to positively influence school culture.RESPONSIBILITIES:Participation in planning and decision making that advances the interests of educational programs. Evaluation of certified and non-certified staff. Develop, implement, and monitor effective building safety, emergency and disaster procedures, including safety inspection, drill practice, and arrival/dismissal procedures. Successful development and implementation of the master and related schedules (supervision duties, extra-curricular clubs, special programs, common planning, observations). Commitment to active parent involvement and the promotion of respect for the school community. Commitment to the academic, social and emotional success of all students. Work collaboratively as a member of the administrative team and professional learning community. Responsible for the successful implementation of all testing and NYS reporting requirements.? Organize and administer the local and state testing programs and other assessment activities to evaluate student progress and program effectiveness.? Develop and implement a professional development plan to meet NYSED guidelines and provide appropriate orientation, pre-service training, in-service training, and other professional growth opportunities for staff.? Align and implement the curriculum with state standards/frameworks, district goals, and student and teacher performance objectives in all subject areas.
