The Tuckahoe Common School District is looking for a District Treasurer responsible for overseeing and participating in various financial management functions to ensure the fiscal integrity of the school district. This role requires an understanding of public fund accounting, preferably within a school district setting. Key Responsibilities:Maintain and oversee ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy in financial transactions.Reconcile bank statements and ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements.Assist in budget development and oversight to align with district financial goals.Manage grants, including application, tracking, and reporting processes.Supervise fund transfers and ensure adherence to regulations and policies.Collaborate to establish and maintain strong internal controls for financial operations.Work with auditors, assisting in the interpretation and preparation of annual financial statements.Serve as custodian of all school district funds, including extra classroom activity funds.Work closely with the Tax Collector to process deposits, issue receipts, prepare tax bills, and research financial issues.Authorize payroll preparation, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing.Develop monthly cash flow statements and ensure district financial obligations are met.Oversee depositories and investments, ensuring the prudent management of funds.Assist periodically with bond sale preparations and other financial transactions as required.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.Experience in public fund accounting, preferably in a school district setting.Strong knowledge of financial management practices, including budgeting, grants management, and fund transfers.Familiarity with internal controls, auditing processes, and financial reporting standards.Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders, including auditors, tax collectors, and district leadership.Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
