Position: P art-Time Advanced Placement (AP) Spanish Teacher (Secondary) Location: Tuckahoe Union Free School - High School Start Date: September 1, 2026 Position Type: Part-Time (.2 FTE) Job Summary The Tuckahoe Union Free School District is seeking a dynamic, student-centered educator to serve as a Part-Time Advanced Placement (AP) Spanish Teacher at Tuckahoe High School. This position is ideal for a passionate world language educator committed to fostering language proficiency, cultural understanding, and academic excellence through rigorous, engaging instruction. The successful candidate will teach Advanced Placement Spanish Language and Culture, preparing students for success on the AP examination while cultivating advanced communication skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The ideal candidate will create an immersive learning environment that promotes authentic language use, intercultural competence, and a lifelong appreciation for the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures. Job Responsibilities Teach AP Spanish Language and Culture in alignment with College Board curriculum frameworks and New York State Learning Standards for World Languages. Develop and implement engaging, proficiency-based lessons that emphasize authentic communication and cultural understanding. Prepare students for success on the AP Spanish Language and Culture Examination. Utilize authentic resources, technology, and innovative instructional practices to enhance language acquisition and cultural literacy. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners and support student growth. Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative measures and provide timely feedback. Foster a classroom environment that encourages active participation, collaboration, and risk-taking in language learning. Communicate regularly with students, families, and colleagues regarding student progress and achievement. Collaborate with department members to support curriculum alignment and continuous program improvement. Participate in departmental, school, and district initiatives as appropriate. Engage in ongoing professional learning to remain current with best practices in world language instruction and AP programming. Qualifications Required Qualifications Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Spanish (Grades 7–12) required. Strong knowledge of College Board AP Spanish Language and Culture curriculum and assessment practices. Demonstrated ability to create engaging, proficiency-based learning experiences. Experience integrating technology and authentic resources into language instruction. Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills. Commitment to fostering an inclusive, culturally responsive learning environment. Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching upper-level Spanish courses. AP Spanish teaching experience preferred.
