Job Posting: School Business Official Tuckahoe Union Free School District Position: School Business Official Location: District Office Start Date: July 1, 2026 Position Type: Full-Time, 12-Month Position Compensation: Salary and benefits commensurate with experience and established by individual employment contract Job Summary Tuckahoe Union Free School District is seeking a highly qualified, collaborative, and detail-oriented School Business Official to oversee and manage the District's business and operational functions. The successful candidate will provide leadership in budget development and administration, financial management, purchasing, payroll, benefits administration, facilities management, transportation services, food service operations, risk management, and compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools. The School Business Official serves as a key member of the District’s administrative leadership team and works closely with the Superintendent of Schools, Board of Education, district administrators, staff, auditors, consultants, and community stakeholders to ensure the effective and efficient operation of district business services. This position requires strong financial acumen, exceptional organizational and leadership skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic educational environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to fiscal responsibility, operational excellence, transparency, and service to the school community. Job Description The School Business Official is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and supervising the financial and operational affairs of the District. The position oversees budget development and monitoring, accounting and auditing functions, purchasing, facilities operations, transportation services, food service programs, and long-range financial planning. The successful candidate will ensure fiscal responsibility, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and effective stewardship of district resources while supporting the educational mission and strategic goals of the District. Job Responsibilities Provide leadership and administration for all business and financial operations of the District Develop, monitor, and administer the District’s annual operating budget Prepare financial reports, projections, and budget presentations for the Superintendent and Board of Education Oversee accounting, payroll, accounts payable, purchasing, cash management, and financial reporting functions Ensure compliance with New York State Education Law, regulations, governmental accounting standards, and applicable federal requirements Coordinate annual external audits and serve as liaison with auditors, financial consultants, and regulatory agencies Manage procurement and purchasing processes in accordance with applicable laws and District policies Oversee and supervise district facilities operations, maintenance programs, custodial services, capital improvement projects, and long-range facilities planning Direct and monitor transportation services to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations for students Oversee district food service operations, including budgeting, program administration, regulatory compliance, and vendor relationships Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations related to school nutrition programs and food service operations Coordinate and oversee risk management, insurance programs, safety initiatives, and related claims administration Assist in the development and administration of long-range financial and capital planning initiatives Monitor revenues, expenditures, grants, and funding sources to support district goals and priorities Prepare reports, recommendations, and presentations regarding financial and operational matters for the Board of Education and Superintendent Collaborate with district administrators to support effective resource allocation and operational planning Supervise business office personnel and provide leadership in the implementation of best practices and continuous improvement initiatives Support collective bargaining, personnel administration, and confidential labor relations matters as directed Utilize financial management systems, business software, and technology platforms to support district operations and decision-making Maintain accurate financial, operational, and regulatory records Respond to inquiries from district stakeholders and provide exceptional customer service Support district-wide initiatives, strategic planning efforts, and special projects Maintain professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality in all aspects of the position Contribute positively to the overall school community and district culture Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, Educational Administration, or a related field Demonstrated experience in school business management, municipal finance, public administration, or a related field Strong knowledge of budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, fiscal management principles, and financial controls Experience overseeing operational functions including facilities, transportation, and food service programs Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and leadership skills Proficiency with financial management systems, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and technology-based business applications Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and compliance requirements Ability to work collaboratively with district leadership, staff, and community stakeholders Preferred Qualifications New York State School District Business Leader (SDBL) Certification or eligibility for certification at the time of appointment Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Educational Leadership, Public Administration, or a related field Experience serving as a School Business Official, Assistant School Business Official, or School District Business Leader in a public school district Knowledge of New York State school finance, budgeting, and state aid formulas Experience with capital projects, facilities planning, and bond-funded initiatives Experience overseeing transportation and food service operations Familiarity with school district financial software, transportation management systems, and records management systems Experience supporting collective bargaining and labor relations processes Strong presentation, report-writing, and public
