2026 Middle School Summer Scholars – Instructors and Coordinator Tuckahoe Union Free School District (UFSD) Position: Summer Scholars Teachers (2 Positions Available) Location: Tuckahoe Middle School Program Dates: July 7, 2026 – July 30, 2026 Schedule: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays Hours: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM Compensation: $73/hour, in accordance with the TTA Contract (Interviewing on a Rolling Basis) Job Summary Tuckahoe Middle School is seeking certified teachers in the areas of English, Science, Social Studies, Mathematics, and/or Special Education to support the 2026 Middle School Summer Scholars Program. The program is designed to provide engaging enrichment and academic support opportunities for middle school students through innovative, student-centered instruction. The successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to support diverse learners across multiple middle school grade levels while fostering a positive, academically challenging, and supportive learning environment. Candidates should possess strong instructional skills, experience with differentiated learning, and the ability to integrate technology and project-based learning strategies into summer programming. Job Description Summer Scholars Teachers will design and implement engaging in-person enrichment and remediation instruction aligned to middle school grade-level standards and tailored to diverse student learning needs. Teachers will collaborate closely with colleagues and support staff to ensure continuity of instruction and student success within the structure of a rotating summer attendance schedule. The ideal candidates will demonstrate strong classroom management, instructional flexibility, and the ability to analyze student data to guide instruction and monitor academic growth. Job Responsibilities Design and implement engaging summer enrichment and remediation units aligned to middle school grade-level standards Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning styles and academic needs Gather, analyze, and interpret student performance data from educational applications, assessments, and teacher-created lessons Provide instructional support across multiple middle school grade levels within one program setting Apply knowledge of special education procedures, accommodations, and differentiated instructional practices Integrate educational technology tools and digital resources to enhance individual and group learning Adapt instruction within a rotating attendance structure while maintaining continuity of learning Support student growth in middle school mathematics through clear explanation of concepts and problem-solving strategies Incorporate Project-Based Learning (PBL) strategies to encourage engagement, collaboration, and critical thinking Collaborate with co-teachers, teaching assistants, and support staff to create a positive and academically supportive environment Maintain effective communication with program staff and administration Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that promotes student confidence and success Qualifications Required Qualifications Valid New York State teaching certification in English, Science, Social Studies, Mathematics, Special Education, or related area Experience teaching middle school students Strong classroom management and organizational skills Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners Experience utilizing educational technology and digital instructional tools Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced summer program environment Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching multiple middle school grade levels Familiarity with Project-Based Learning instructional practices Experience supporting students with special education accommodations and modifications Experience using student data to guide instruction and monitor progress Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-teaching environment Experience designing engaging enrichment and remediation curriculum Equal Employment Opportunity Statement Tuckahoe Union Free School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, national origin, citizenship status, age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, military status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
