Job Posting: Director of Special Education and Student Services Tuckahoe Union Free School District (UFSD) Position: Director of Special Education Location: Tuckahoe Union Free School District Start Date: July 1, 2026 Position Type: Full-Time, 12-Month Position Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience Job Summary Tuckahoe Union Free School District is seeking a dynamic and compassionate Director of Special Education and Student Services to support and lead programs for students with disabilities and related student services. This position ensures that all students receive appropriate, high-quality services in alignment with federal and New York State regulations while fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Job Description The Director of Special Education and Student Services works under the supervision of the Superintendent to oversee the district’s special education programs and student support services. This role focuses on ensuring compliance, supporting staff, collaborating with families, and maintaining effective systems that promote student success. The Director plays a key role in guiding instructional practices, coordinating services, and ensuring students’ academic, social, and emotional needs are met. Job Responsibilities Oversee all Special Education programs and services across the district Ensure compliance with federal and NYS regulations, including IDEA, Section 504, and ADA Supervise the Committee on Special Education (CSE), CPSE, and Section 504 processes Monitor and support the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Supervise special education staff and related service providers Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and families to support student success Oversee out-of-district placements and partnerships with BOCES and external agencies Support staff through professional development in best practices and inclusive education Assist with budget development and management for special education and student services Promote equitable access to programs and ensure a least restrictive environment for students Support compliance reporting and maintain accurate program documentation Qualifications NYS School District Leader (SDL) or School District Administrator (SDA) Certification required Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Administration, or related field Minimum five years of experience in special education or related leadership roles Strong knowledge of federal and NYS special education laws and regulations Experience supervising staff and managing programs Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, families, and outside agencies Commitment to equity, inclusion, and student-centered practices Equal Employment Opportunity Statement Tuckahoe Union Free School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, national origin, citizenship status, age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, military status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
