TITLE: ADULT EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR (HSE/GED) Affiliation: SEIU Part-Time, Hourly Position, 10 to 20 hours weekly Adult Education Department Anticipated class schedule: TBD Location: TBD/Various Adult Education SitesDUTIES: Teach Math, Science, Social Studies, Reading, and Writing to adult students working to obtain a High School Equivalency (HSE/GED) diploma.Plan and deliver group and individual lessons at appropriate student levels.Provide encouragement and motivation to adult students.Conduct orientations and interviews of adult students entering the program.Integrate technology into planning and instruction.Access students’ skills using required New York State Education Department (NYSED) and National Reporting System (NRS) assessment tools.Monitor and document student progress as required by NYSED and NRS.Maintain accurate attendance and student records as required by NYSED and NRS.Assess readiness for the HSE/GED exam using required NYSED and NRS assessments.Attend a minimum of 14 hours of professional development annually & attend required staff meetings.Other pertinent duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS:Must possess NYSED Adult Education Instructor Certification. Bachelor’s Degree, experience teaching adults, and Google Suite experience is preferred. START DATE: February 16, 2023 SALARY: $30.81 per/hour. (Work up to 20 hours per week.)(Position is more than 10 hours, therefore is part of the Adult Education Bargaining Unit.)
