TITLE: SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER, TURNING POINT Certified Position Full Time, 10-month (Elementary 1-6 or B-2) Affiliation: Teachers’ Association Exceptional Education Department Location: BOCES Smith School DUTIES: Responsible for providing grade level NYS Next Generation Standards general curriculum andspecially designed instruction to students in the Turning Point program in Exceptional Education. Teacherwill have access to NYS curricula with flexibility to design materials focused on prioritized standards whilecreating an instructional space that meets the learning needs of our students. Responsible for case managementduties, Individualized Education Plans, and FBA/BIP’s complete with progress monitoring. Must be a flexiblethinker with emotional intelligence skills, who is dedicated to collaboration with colleagues in the program andwith our partner agency to provide a therapeutic milieu in the classroom. Experience with trauma informed careand restorative practices that impact classroom management and culture preferred. Candidate must maintainstudent records consistent with State and Federal regulations. Perform other duties as required. *This position requires the ability and desire to work with elementary school age students with learning,emotional and behavioral disabilities in an 8:1:1 BOCES setting. QUALIFICATIONS: New York State Certification in Students with Disabilities 1-6 or B-2 required OR must hold permanent NYS Special Education Certification K-12(Previous experience working with students with emotional/behavioral disabilities is preferred) START DATE: As soon as possible or January 15, 2023 SALARY: $50,000.00 (2022-2023 base salary), plus additional salary credit for appropriate prior experience, Masters Degree and Grad Credits.
