The School Social Worker promotes and enhances the overall academic mission by providing services to strengthen home/school/community partnerships and alleviate barriers to learning. School Social Workers assist students with academic learning by providing strategic services that identify and address social-emotional- environmental issues that interfere with educational process. The School Social Worker advances the understanding of the emotional and social development of children and the influences of the family, community, and cultural differences on student success and implements effective intervention strategies. Working with parents/guardians, teachers, principals, and school officials as well as community based resources; the school social worker utilizes strategies that promote positive school adjustment. The School Social Worker functions include but are not limited to; Assessment of student, family and school needs, direct services/service delivery, advocacy, consultation and collaboration, program planning, implementation, and maintain accountability. The School Social Worker reports directly to the Building Principal. Social Worker is an exempt position. Tiegerman is a 12-month program. Hours: 8:15am-3:15pm (M-F) Responsibilities · Provides mandated individual and group school based counseling in accordance with IEP mandates · Identifies and assesses academic problems through analysis of factors that impact student adjustment including factors in the home, school, and community · Assist students in recognizing/modifying behaviors that interfere with learning · Provides counseling and psycho-education to parents · Serves as a liaison between families and school to positively promote collaborative process in education planning · Serves as a liaison between community agencies and assists in fostering communication between school, parents/guardians, and the community · Serves as a liaison for school staff regarding issues related to child protective services · Conduct psychosocial assessments and intake interviews · Conducts classroom observations · Collaborates with school staff in implementing strategies to promote student adjustment · Participate as members of the school based/multi-disciplinary team to develop interventions to promote student success · Provides crisis intervention services · Provides staff consultation on social-emotional environmental issues affecting students participation in learning process · Conducts outreach to foster collaboration between home, school, and community · Develops and provides trainings that address goals and mission of the school, as well as the needs of the students. · Maintains accurate clinical and student records with adherence to program standards Job Type: Full-time
