Tiegerman School is a special education program servicing children with autism spectrum disorders from preschool through high school. At Tiegerman, our mission is to identify children with language and autism spectrum disorders early to provide educational programs which will prepare them for a world filled with words, sentences, stories and messages. Language is a symbol system; it provides the means to reach out to the world. Tiegerman is a 12 month programTiegerman High School is looking for a School Psychologist to join our team.Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):· Provide mandated weekly individual and group counseling which includes recording notes, writing counseling reports, creating goals, and conducting ongoing dialogue with parents via face to face meetings and telephone conferences· Provide ongoing classroom consultation regarding classroom management. Psychologists are involved in the consistent development of pro-social behaviors in school by developing and teaching through the use of systematic reinforcement, modeling, verbal instruction, and role playing· Provide ongoing models of discipline, both preventive and corrective, as well as treatment discipline which includes the development of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs). Monitor those students on an ongoing basis by taking data and developing Progress reports in conjunction with the BIP teams.· Psychologists are part of the crisis intervention team designed to both prevent and diffuse school and student crises. They work with professional staff and family members to help remediate crisis situations.· Psychologists are an integral member of the student’s team and monitor student progress based on direct and frequent observations of performance on tasks in group and individual situations. They are part of the collaborative problem solving process utilized to address the language, academic, and social/emotional needs of our students.· Psychologists provide collaboration with families which includes developing programs and workshops for parents, provide parent training, education and support, as well as parent counseling.· The psychologists are actively involved in site visits and team meetings with school districts including CPSEs and CSEs.· The school psychologist is a liaison to outside professionals and agencies and provides coordination with families and services.· Consult with staff regarding social skills and bullying· Assist with transition planning procedures and the implementation of the vocational program components including parent meetings.· Conduct peer mediation sessions· School Psychologist evaluates students referred by school districts. These include psycho-educational evaluations, social histories, and observations of students. Feedback is provided to families and school districts at the CSE meetings.Tiegerman is an AA and EEO employer.
