Speech Language Pathologist As a School Speech-Language Pathologist, you will play a crucial role in supporting students' communication and language development within an educational setting, including working with preschool-aged children in early childhood programs. Working collaboratively with educators, parents, and other professionals, you will assess, diagnose, and treat communication disorders in students, ensuring they have the necessary skills to succeed academically and socially. Your responsibilities will encompass a range of tasks, including evaluation, intervention, documentation, and consultation. Qualifications: Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a program accredited by the American Speech Language and Hearing Association. State licensure or certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist. Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association preferred. A minimum of 36 weeks of supervised experience in speech-language pathology or audiology completed within a four-year period with not more than two employers, and may be full-time or part-time. Experience working with children and adolescents in educational or clinical settings. Experience working with preschool-aged children and knowledge of early childhood language development and intervention strategies preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with students, parents, educators, and other professionals. Ability to develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and evidence-based practice. Proficiency in conducting standardized assessments, interpreting results, and documenting progress. Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards governing the practice of speech-language pathology in educational settings. Responsibilities: Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate students' speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders. Administer standardized tests and clinical observations to determine the nature and severity of communication impairments. Provide speech and language evaluations and therapy for preschool students in accordance with CPSE recommendations. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to gather relevant information about students' communication abilities and needs. Individualized Intervention: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to meet each student's specific communication goals and needs. Support early identification and intervention for communication delays to strengthen school readiness and foundational language skills. Provide therapy sessions targeting various areas such as articulation, phonology, language comprehension, expressive language, fluency, and pragmatic skills. Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques and materials to facilitate progress and enhance communication skills. Collaboration and Consultation: Work closely with teachers, administrators, and support staff to integrate speech and language goals into the academic curriculum and classroom activities. Collaborate with preschool teachers, early childhood staff, and families to support language development and communication skills in early learning environments. Provide consultation and guidance to educators and parents on strategies for supporting students' communication development in the classroom and at home. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss students' progress, goals, and necessary adjustments to intervention plans. Documentation and Progress Monitoring: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessment results, treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant documentation in compliance with legal and professional standards. Regularly monitor and evaluate students' progress toward achieving communication goals, adjusting intervention strategies as needed to maximize outcomes. Prepare written reports and updates to communicate students' progress and recommendations to parents, teachers, and other stakeholders. Professional Development and Advocacy: Stay abreast of current research, best practices, and trends in the field of speech-language pathology through continuing education, workshops, conferences, and professional literature. Advocate for the importance of speech and language services in educational settings and collaborate with stakeholders to promote awareness and support for students with communication disorders.
