The primary role is to develop competencies, knowledge and skills for students so that they are able to comprehend, read, write and speak in another language. In addition, an emphasis on fostering curiosity and imagination, while nurturing a love for cultural differences are key influences in our students’ success in developing skills in another language. The priority is to create a classroom that blends language learning with cultural exploration in an effort to deepen a global perspective.Qualifications:Valid state teaching certification in content areaKnowledge of best practices in world language instruction and assessmentDemonstrate the power of languages and how to use language as an effective communication tool to studentsFoster passion in developing language proficiencies and appreciation for diversity and cultural inclusivityResponsibilities:Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior and attendanceStrong classroom management skillsCommunicate regularly with parents and guardiansPlan, organize, develop, and conduct a comprehensive culturally responsive and anti-racist teaching and instruction program for students;Provide appropriate and effective learning experiences for students from a wide range of cultural backgrounds;Effectively assess the instructional and educational needs of students, and design, develop, and implement sound instructional and educational programs;Provide a motivating and stimulating learning environment;Provide appropriate feedback on student work;Monitor and encourage individual student progress;Provide guidance to students which will promote educational development;Other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
