Howard, Jr., Superintendent of SchoolsSCHOOL DISTRICT BUS DISPATCHERDISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is a position involving the responsibility for receiving all incoming communications via telephone or radio from school administrators, school bus drivers, parents and citizens and responding with accurate information. The employees of this class must be able to function calmly in emergencies and to take appropriate action efficiently. Makes recommendations for updating bus routes as assigned. Additional duties are of a routine clerical nature. The work is performed under the supervision of the Supervisor of Transportation. Does related work as required.TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative only)? Answers telephone and radio calls and provides information on routes and times when needed;? May update records as needed;? Dispatches school buses at proper times and covers all runs by using the list of substitute drivers;? May maintain records of school buses, school vehicles and transportation records;? Keeps abreast of current road conditions and reroutes accordingly;? Operates radio, photocopy and other basic office equipment;? Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Transportation.?
