Public Relations AssistantPublic Relations Assistant plays a key role in crafting and delivering compelling communications that promote the programs, achievements, and initiatives of a school district or municipality. This position is ideal for a creative communicator with a passion for public service, storytelling, and community engagement. Some oversight of clerical support staff may be required.Create and edit dynamic content such as press releases, feature stories, radio announcements, newsletters, brochures, posters, and digital media to inform and engage the public.Build and maintain positive relationships with the press, local media outlets, professional associations, and community organizations.Serve as a vital source of information by sharing updates and highlighting key events and initiatives.Organize press conferences and advise leadership on public relations strategies.Draft speeches and remarks for district or municipal officials.Assist in the design and execution of exhibits and public information displays.Manage and update the agency’s website, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and timely delivery of information.Collaborate with administrators and department leaders to develop online content and convert printed materials for web use.Oversee the visual and graphic elements of digital communications.Support video production efforts, including recording public meetings and special events.Coordinate with local cable stations to share announcements and updates.Represent the organization at community events or public forums as needed.Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree* and three (3) years of work experience in which the primary function of the position was copywriting or news writing for radio, TV, newspapers, publications, advertising agencies or writing relating directly to the community/public relations** field.EFFECTIVE: Sept 1, 2025 SALARY: $90,000HOURS: Monday- Friday, 35hrs per week - 12-month position
