Serve as the instructional leader for the Center for Special Services, including but not limited to, data driven decision making, the building of inclusionary practices and programs that provide the full continuum of services, including transition planning for all students.Work collaboratively with administrative and instructional colleagues to develop and maintain high impact evidence-based practices, programs, services and systemsCollaborate, and work directly with, the Assistant Director for Special ServicesInspire, lead, support and evaluate school principals as part of a continuous improvement cycleRepresent SWBOCES as the leader in Special Education and as a resource to component and participating districtsDevelop, implement, and manage the budget for the Center for Special ServicesLead systems which ensure compliance with all Federal and New York State Special Education laws and regulationsEnsure the implementation of students’ Individual Education PlansTogether with the Assistant Director and Regional Special Education Associates, plan and facilitate monthly PPS Directors’ meetingsLead efforts to build high-quality, and highly desired, programs for students with disabilitiesMonitor student enrollment and the student intake processDevelop and administer systems to evaluate program effectiveness and develop continuous improvement strategies through the analysis and use of dataEffectively communicate, written and verbally, with all constituent groups including parents, staff, and school districtsAs appropriate, respond to student, parent, staff and school district questions and concernLead the Center in determining needed staffing levelsFoster and facilitate a collaborative working relationship with community service agencies, component and participating districts, other BOCES and state agencies to enhance programs and servicesFacilitate the leadership of human resources and personnel functions within the CenterCoordinate the Extended School Year programServe as a member of the SWBOCES Administrative Cabinet Participate in local, regional, and statewide Special Education networks, teams and committeesMinimum QualificationsNYS School District Administrator or School District Leader certificationExcellent speaking, writing, and listening skillsOutstanding communication skills: understanding the lines of communication with the ability to identify and implement systems to effectively communicate with all stakeholdersAdministrative experience in Special EducationStrong background in, and knowledge of, all aspects of school safetyKnowledge and experience with Part 200 Regulations and the Committee on Special Education (CSE) processDistrict-level leadership experience, preferably in instructional leadershipStrong organizational skills and attention to detailExperience with all aspects of Human Resources functions, including recruiting, hiring, retaining and supporting a diverse workforceExperience in providing relevant Professional Learning opportunities for staffDeep understanding of, and background in, the use of data to continually inform instruction and improve student outcomesExperience in, and understanding of, school finance
