PRIMARY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Serves as a resource to school staff members on a formal or informal basis regarding speech, language, and hearing programs which may include providing Professional Development for staff on speech language disorders and their relation to student communication and learning.Plans and implements a systematic and evidence-based therapeutic program to meet the individual needs of students with speech and language disabilities in accordance with IEP.Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments; assists in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate.Provides information, support, and counseling to parents and families when appropriate. QUALIFICATIONS:New York State license in Speech Language Pathology and Certificate of Clinical Competence.New York State Certification in Speech and Hearing Handicapped or Speech and Language Disabilities.Experience with Students with various handicapping conditions required.
